Has anyone ever had a domain "blacklisted" by SEDO because a formal complaint was filed by another entity?

No, but Sedo banned all Obama/Biden/McCain/Palin domains from their marketplace and parking. They did not fully explain how they came to this moronic decision.

Acro,
thanks for the reply. That is moronic. It is funny, cause the domain I had blacklisted I dont believe can be TM'ed. It is a combo of 2 dictionary words that are very vague and common. An example would be olympicathletes.com

To the children of the Third Reich warriors the usual rational doesn't apply

Olympic(s) is trademarked

If your domain included that word, that may have been the reason. I am just going from your example given, incase your domain had it in it.

As Doug said, anything related to the International Olympic Committee's trademarks (and they are plenty) is now allowed on Sedo.

Edit: I meant to say *NOT* allowed on Sedo. Honest typo :D

This is why they should allow us to edit our post, say 10 minutes, after posting in this forum.

Yes and it was a generic word trademarked (french legislation is really rude).

It is a German Company that has a TM on Olympic, Olympics, Olympiad and so on. Sedo happens to be based in Germany.

Yet there are countless TM holders for the same words here in the states, most notably Olympic Paints.

Such a bogus explanation. No other parking company bars them.

As for the candidates, it is a bonehead move, especially since the Republian National Convention has these domains registered:

Question to sedo in this case would be, "who complained?" and since when has sedo appointed itself as the internet police.

Yes I have. Sedo has a list of terms it periodically checks. They will add additional terms to that list if a company complainers about a trademark violation.

I wouldn't necessarily say internet police since they can only police their own
services. That's every business' choice, especially if the risks are unpalatable.

I do agree banning politicians' names is rather too much, though I guess they
just want to be...consistent? (for lack of a better term...)

Ah well, that's Sedo for ya...

I think that the olympic domain was just an example. Not a good one though.
This is because you are not allowed to enter a domain with "olympic" in it at sedo.

Heck I couldn't even enter my team's domain: olympiakos. :)
