To Develop or TM

So I have an excess 100k in the bank and I'm trying to figure how best to put it to work. A friend has recommend buying a portfolio of tm's and expanding my portfolio which to be honest is very enticing, afterall tm's are the quickest way to expand.

I do not see tm's as a long term benefit, as we all know they eventually get blocked, taken, die off or you get dinged 100k.

My other option is to buy 3-5 generic .com's and develop. The plus side to this is generic .com's will always go up in value, they're easy to get ranked and you can keep them for as long as you want while the sites keep making you money (all variables aside). The down side, fresh information and maintenance fees.

Any input would be appreciated as I've been pondering this for a bit.

Go with the generics - safer and steadier income streams but do not spend the entire 100K, maybe spend $20K on one or two good domains and develop, then pay for some adveritising.

Also any recommendations on what companies to use in development would be appreciated.

Get 1 or 2 generics at most and develop - concentrate all your efforts just on those two sites. Don't let the domain budget exceed 50% of your investment. I can get you a few guys to develop very affordably if you need. Pm if you need consultation on what to buy.

If it was me...
-No to TM names, but don't know that game as i don't do it.
-Buy 1 Category Killer .com with high CPC at 60% if possible. Rest for Dev Costs.

Thanks everyone for the input, so far I am leaning towards developing, again if anyone can recommend a good company I'd appreciate it. Again if anyone can recommend a good dev company I'd appreciate it.

Also, out of email marketing, adwords and linking are there any other types of advertising you recommend?
