Financial company picks up spectacular domain name for eight-figures. Rocket Companies (NYSE: RKT), the parent of Rocket Mortgage and other companies, paid at least $14 million to acquire the domain name rocket.com. Elliot Silver first spied this transaction and confirmed Hilco Digital’s role in the sale. George Kirikos found the transaction price in an SEC […]

That was a copycat article, parasitic in nature, given that I broke the news on Friday night:

Good morning George, thank you for your comment. :) We are not the police and the courtroom here (trying not to be).

It seems Andrew has given a reference to your article. Elliot Silver was mentioned (with a reference) as well.

--

George, we are happy to subscribe to your feed, publish the extracts of your new articles (under your account) as these get published (you would need to configure how much appears here). Would you like this?

Apologies, I don't know anything of your argument with ICANN and possibly other places.

[Just in a case] The main ask from us is: please do not insult anyone (constructive criticism is fine, and also, within limits) - we are here to do business and live happy lives.

Have a great day! Helmuts

Helmuts: I've made the point extensively on Twitter/X, if you review the conversation there.

In a nutshell, the entire point of his article was to parasitically seek traffic for his own blog, at the expense of the original author. Some folks amplify those who put in the hard work to generate that original content --- he didn't.

The price was the news! Everything else was filler. The entire point of the article was to get pageviews/attention at the expense of the original author/creator, leveraging their hard work. That's parasitic.

Did DNW write an article when the domain name changed hands? Nope! Did he write an article when *I* identified the true owner, back in September (via Twitter/X). Nope! (he then later attributed that to Elliot, instead, when I had identified it more than a month earlier). Instead, it only became "newsworthy" when there was a big price. I reiterate, the price was the news.

He could have just retweeted my tweet, and that would have been enough. He had nothing "newsworthy" to add, beyond what I produced through my hard work.

The exact same thing happened on Connect[.]com. He's done this repeatedly over the years, and knows exactly what he's doing.

[My comments in this thread had nothing to do with ICANN, so not sure how that's relevant.]

@GeorgeK sad to hear of such an experience.. we are all just human beings. Andrew seems to be a very nice and genuine guy.

DNF is a safe place for you.

Shall I, or @DNF Admin, set up the feeds so the excerpts of your articles get published in our News Section? Readers would benefit, and this should help your traffic as well. .. there is no charge for this, of course.

Best wishes, Helmuts

p.s. are you coming to the ICANN meeting in Istanbul? Coffee? :)

Thanks, but I'd not be interested in having my feed published here.
