Blame it on Digg, Squidoo, and Meebo, but the number of brandable names I've seen mushrooming online is just going way way over the top.

Every second new website I come across has the same shiny interface, similar sounding made-up brandable names. I don't know about you guys, but these names, along with their glossy, reflective interfaces are getting old for me...way too old

True, I hear ya... At least some of the "old timer" brandables are taken from words that have meaning. Google, Pepsi, Amazon, Tabu, etc...

(okay maybe that last one is mine ;)

hah

i guess to a degree you have a point, but another way to look at it is...

that website creators, still exhibit creativity by making-up these domain names to brand their websites.

since all of the generic one-worders are taken...

why not make-up your own words?

unless you're Mike Tyson :)

another point...

made-up words aids and assists our ability convey messages or mental images, typically with less verbage than a "tag line"

imo...

You gotta love the domainer definition of 'brandable' too (hint: usually goes with 'premium') :D

You can't blame someone for trying to make a catchy easy to remember brandable name... what else should they do?

If you are seeing lots of them then its a good sign the market is moving, its when you see them dropping and selling for nothing or nobody wanting them that its not good. Unless you are buying them ... LOL

The trouble with most of these so call brandable names is I can't remember them. I saw a TV commercial today that had "bid" in the name but that's the only part I remember.
