So someone decided they wanted to get a domain today and put in a request to transfer it to dot.ca right away.
The only thing is that it is not their domain!
So we got a nice e-mail from dot.ca:
Hi,
Welcome! We have received your request to provide service for XXX.ca and look forward to doing so quickly, accurately and with all the care you expect from a certified domain management company.
Verify and approve online right now, at the verification website:
www.dot.ca/domainxfer.ca?domain=XXX.ca&security=on&xfer=yes
To make it fast and easy, we'll automatically recover the registration information on file.
If this link wraps in the email, copy manually into the browser's location / address bar from 'www' up to 'yes'.
To establish service on our system, visit the VERIFICATION website to re-register the domain. Approval of a registry agreement is not required.
Best of all, a year is now being added to your current registration term. So you're taking care of renewing your domain, too. Everything, all at the same time. To keep your
domain registered and start service, it's just one visit to the Verification website...
At the verification website, current ownership information will display.
1) RE-SELECT the correct domain owner classification (top right)
2) ENTER billing information then Click the VERIFY button
3) Click the SUBMIT button
4) Click the NOTICE button. You will receive a receipt for your re-registration / transfer by email.
A year will be added to your current registration term upon your approval of the transfer.
If you choose not to verify, this domain service request will be cancelled.
If you've changed your mind, or XXX.ca is not the domain you want us to service,
please DO NOT visit the verification website as domain transfer fees are non-refundable.
If you have any questions about XXX.ca or domain registration,
please do not hesitate to ask, anytime.
We will advise you on the progress of your registration on the dot.ca system, every step of the way.

Now XXX.ca is not the domain of course, but you can be sure the person who made the transfer request is going to blame CIRA or dot.ca for the 'problem' of not transferring the domain!
