Is there any trick to transfering .biz names? The guy I am buying a name from (it's a .biz) says that register.com is saying that there is a $200 transfer fee?!! I told him that I will simply put in a transfer request (from another registrar) and all he has to do is approve it. Am I correct, or is there an expense (besides what the other registrar charges me for the transfer).

Thanks everyone (maybe I should have put this in the newbies thread :)

$200 transfeer fee???? That's a joke.
Just tell him to ask his registar for the authorization codes and you are set.

register.com does have some outrageous $200 transfer fee. I advise to stay away from them.

Not that I know of, delete. I just transfered a name from them and I paid nothing to them for the transfer. Maybe it might have been a cctld like .de or .jp I'm guessing?

i'm sure you can transfer a domain out of register.com without a free. they might try to make it hard, but i can't imagine they'd get away with that. domains are supposed to be portable and people have a choice of registrars.
