With registrars now putting locks on domains, I am now have trouble transferring OUT of places....all of them. I am working on transfers I have had to put through 3 times even AFTER removing the lock. I am sure it is even more frustrating for the buyers when it takes this long. Anyone experience similar??

Lately in all of my transactions (where I'm buying a name) I've had the seller change the contact information to me. Then I've initiated a transfer to another registrar.

So far no problems with this approach.

BulkRegister.com automatically blocks any outbound transfers to eNom.

OpenRS is alright, because you can disable it. Other places are not as easy.

I have had to call Popwerpipe.com, as they automatically set regsitrar lock and do not provide a way to disable it.

But yes, I agree this this registrar lock is VERY annoying.

Registrars know that adding a simple step or two to the transfer process will decrease the number of transfers out thus decreaseing loss of revenue.

BulkRegister requires that their resellers enable their accounts for enom transfers. This is becuase of the spamming lawsuit against 2 of enom's big resellers. If it's a single domain to be transfered the domain is transfered to an enables BR account.

BR transfers to enom now take me less than 24 hours.

Netsol does one better, it refuses to give you your authorisation code for .info and .biz transfers :D
