Questions?

What the response should be; I know of .biz restrictions but how about unsolicited offers...Are they Kosher? And if so, what's the domain worth in your opinion?

slap up a page, anything about textiles or whatever.........and sell it as a site, not as a domain name. Thats how you get around the restriction :)

It seems your "interested" inquirer has a yahoo email address. If this guy was really in technology he would not have a "yahoo" address. I'd be a little leary.

just my .02

BTW: Textile.biz is a VERY good domain, don't let this one go on the cheap!!!

Yes Heat, I would put a page up too. He could be someone who will take any communications from you back to the registry as "proof" you are dealing in names only. Tell him you have a site in development and he can look at it when it is up and base his offer on the business if he wishes. Too good a name to risk and hassles with.

If you look at .com restrictions, they are the same...just not enforced.

Dont build a site! Waste of time. The guy already saw it was undeveloped....it will look strange.

forget the site.. just sell the name.. dont be paranoid :weird:

:)

This is what he wrote back:

Dear Mr. Ghafoor,

I did like to buy it. Although it seems
that we both headed in a same direction. May be we can
work together I can provide the technical part.

Let me know what you think abt it?

Thank you,

Don't be paranoid. Doberry will give you $1,000 or so if you lose the name by selling if without having a business page up first. :)

I understand that the registry is very serious about enforcing this in .biz. Mole could tell you more.

believe it or not. most techies use either yahoo or email account. they don't have to change e-mail address every time they switch company.

Textile.biz is a very good B2B name that could be worth a STOP/UDRP action on, be careful.

If you reply that you are willing to sell it to him, then chances are you're letting him bait you with evidence of bad faith.

Firstly, never post the real name of your domain up onto forums like this when it such a situation. And never post your name. If my memory doesn't fail me, the name Ghafoor has been mentioned quite a number of times on the ICANN.org forums for alleged cybersquatting. Hopefully, you are a different Ghafoor.

Seek legal counsel from people like Ari who has done many .biz arbitrations.

If it was a worse name, I would say try to sell the sucker. If it is a stellar name like textile.biz, seek legal counsel immediately, unless you want to play your chances and don't mind taking the risk.

...And another thing no one in technology uses the "techies" term anymore...
