EBay also is one of Google's largest advertisers, spending tens of millions of dollars a year on "keyword" ads that generate links to eBay listings when Google users type certain search terms.

At least until this week, when eBay pulled all its keyword ads from Google's U.S. site.

This might be a really big problem for Google...did'nt something like this happen (about to happen) with Domain Sponsor & Traffic? Companies surely are starting to get very protective and defensive of their peice of the net pie!

How do you think this will turn out.

Hmmm... Yes, does sounds familiar. However, in this case eBay called their bluff and Google flinched. Now that everybody knows where they stand, I expect they'll go back to business as usual. Only now both will be looking to hedge their bets and strengthen their hand.

Yeah, I think in this case ebay has the brass ones it seems...or the advertising money really! They are most likely going to try to buyout google checkout or something imo..would be a good move to keep them out of that whole arena..

Google may be a HUGE search engine empire but as I have pointed out before in posts about domain parking, ultimately their weakness is that their business model relies on our domain traffic partly and the advertisers bidding...take either one of those away and they start losing alot of money.
Imagine waking up one day and you see the "pause" or "cancel" option chosen in Ebay Inc.'s Adwords account! LMAO
Talk about a bad day for someone! Whoever planned that Google party most likely is going to be or already got canned.

Hi,

Now that theres no truth to the months of rumors of Microsoft & Yahoo merging.... I think it may be time for Ebay & Yahoo to merge.

Just a thought...

Peace,
Dan

ebay's less than $25M barely put a dent in google's revenue. But I'm sure they are glad to have them back on board.

You knew there was going to be trouble from the very beginning. eBay's Prostores storefront software did not accomodate the Google Checkout.
When asked, EBay software customer service stated that they 'had no plans to offer that option' in their payment processing options.
