I am honored to inform you that I was able to acquire Tsunamis.com.
The site is now online:
Tsunamis.com
I had been working diligently building up my resources and information databases on the disaster, and planned on launching several sites (in conjunction with Tsunami Relief Charities.com) when a fortuitous, once-in-a-lifetime event occurred.
Let me explain:
Last week I was doing some appraisals for fellow members here in the DNforum
when I came upon an appraisal request for Tsunamis.com. I could barely believe my eyes; I did not even think of appraising the domain ââ¬â I knew I needed to do whatever was necessary to acquire the domain, period.
It was unquestionably the vehicle that I had been hoping and praying for ââ¬â the vehicle that would allow me to reach the largest audience possible for my work with the tsunami disaster.
A few gut-wrenching (for me) days went by as I negotiated for the domain. I knew many other people also wanted the domain, and I began to lose hope, believing that I would not be able to strike a deal with the seller.
So I submitted my best offer and anxiously waited for a response from the seller. Several hours passed and I thought I lost the domain. I felt horrible. But I kept checking my PM boxââ¬Â¦hoping, praying.
Finally, I saw ââ¬ÅUnread ââ¬â 1ââ¬Â in my box.
I took a deep breath and clicked on the message and read the following:
ââ¬ÅThe domain is yours.ââ¬Â
I was overjoyed. I immediately paid for the domain.
The seller knew about my plans with the site so he quickly changed the DNS settings to point to my site. I uploaded the completed pages, and began diligently working on the rest of the site.
Concomitantly, I began expanding my contact base by sending e-mails to individuals, groups, organizations, agencies, etc, who could be of assistance with the various sections of the site.
The result: I put up the most comprehensive site that I could as quickly as I possibly could, and I broadened my contacts so I am now ready to serve the world community and to move on any issue that may arise.
Let me now give you an overview of the site.
The home page of Tsunamis.com is the home page from Tsunamis Relief Charities.com. The focus of that page will continue to be on fundraising.
The next section is ââ¬ÅLatest Tsunami News.ââ¬Â This area is where I am posting concise and important news stories. Stories are entered chronologically, with the most recent stories at the top.
Next is the ââ¬ÅMissing Peopleââ¬Â section. Thousands of people are still missing in several countries, including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Seychelles, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Thailand. Visitors can submit a missing person form or peruse lists of missing people.
Additionally, a list of tsunami disaster hotlines is available.
The other main areas of the site include:
Prayer and Reflection Room
Tsunami E-mail and Website Scams
What is a Tsunami?
December 26, 2004 Tsunami
Tsunami Pictures
----------------------------
The objectives of the site include:
1) Raising as much money as possible for tsunami relief.
2) Raising awareness about all aspects of the disaster.
3) Locating as many missing people as possible.
4) Remembering and honoring those who died because of the tsunami.
5) Keeping the public informed about the disaster.
I want to extend a very deep thank you to the administrators, moderators, and fellow members of this outstanding community.
I was able to purchase this domain ââ¬â the most important domain of my lifetime ââ¬â because of the environment that exists here ââ¬â namely, an environment that attracts the very best and most professional players in the industry.
Being at the right place at the right time means EVERYTHING.
The DNforum is the right placeââ¬Â¦and thank God I came by at the right time.
The day I purchased Tsunamis.com was one of the best days of my life.
I am highly honored and privileged to be able to serve people in need via this domain.
You are all the best.
Take care,
Kevin Caruso
