Does anyone agree that .tv could be the future? When you look at most of the .TV sites, they are receiving alot of traffic and have supreme designs. Could this be the future?

If you're located in Tuvalu, it's definitely the most logical domain to use, seeing that it's the country code for that place.

No, the future is not about exploiting the poverty of 3rd world countries assigned a cctld by Internic many years ago to accord them some internet soverignity.

Get the real thing, you can be guaranteed that ICANN will ensure that more true-blue gTLDs (not protected from speculators) and sTLDs (protected from speculators) will be streamed out onto the Internet in the coming years.

Selectively, .tv can have awesome potential. With other registrars now selling .tv's at discounted prices ($34 GD and NC) combined with the new ability to push names, I see .tv gaining significant ground.

Here in the states, .tv is quite prominent at the end user / developed site level. Far more so than .biz, .info or any of the other cctlds including .us.

Just my 2 pennies.

What states are you from?
Because I would have to disagree with that if you are talking about the United America ones.

Open your eyes and ears... the next time you are driving in the US of A check out the ads on trucks, buses, and billboards. Stay up late one night and watch a few infomercials.

.TV is everywhere. Joe Schmoe on the street couldn't care less where Tuvalu is or what .tv really stands for. All they know is if I type in BassOMatic.tv, I can get a neat gift for my Auntie Sadie.

Since the average American has the attention span of a house fly and spends on average a whopping 6 hours a day in front of their television, .TV seems to be something they can both understand and remember.

That's why it will truly be successful.

(PS... me, I'm a proud American. Pass the remote.)

:eek:k: he's good.....I agree....

and Mole...I don't think for a second that Tavarua (or however the heck you spell it) is complaining...that deal probably upped its per capita by 300%...Do you get upset when you travel to the Dominican Republic because you are using their land as a resort?
You are in fact giving them something, which is more than nothing...

Everytime something is asked about a re-purposed country code extension, someone needs to erect the huge billboards that say the emperor has NO CLOTHES. I completely agree that the average consumer couldn't careless. If your not a dotCOM, you're already entering nebulous territory. TV, CC, WS, NU, etc, etc... got commercially hijacked. Years later, here we are. Still ccTLD's, but .TV is showing up in all sorts of places on television.

Just check the Overture on FoxBox.com versus FoxBox.tv (Fox Network's children programming). It's out there definitely. Here's another site that appears to be a big believer:
http://www.online.tv/

I'd use it as a fallback, but it will clearly always have an asterix next to it.

unless it is television related, or If you have a super one worder (and you develop) , then IMHO .tv is not worth much.
