I know it's scheduled to midnight today.
But ask in the NamePros forum there is much more TV experts there.

Regarding .TV, someone from Enom actually sent email regarding my last inquiry of premium name. She asked me to bid to a name, I said I pass because it's too high to manage. But only to a specific name, I submitted 100+ premiums names.

How is this going to work exactly? They set their prices on all of the names based on what they think they are worth? Or do they set prices with a built in profit, but allow for some good deals to be had?

Should I be working out my trigger finger in anticipation?

i won't be touching these with a bargepole.
i think great potential, if they get it right at the 4th time of asking.
i mean they have the right Guy at the helm, even if it is enom ;)
i just can't deal with paying a kings ransom, annually.
i'll shell out for a domain once...that's it.
not for me, but wish you guys luck

Predator you are right!

A premium ransom to pay annualy.

For example:
If your premium domain cost 15K then it's also the renewal price.

That's crazy...

Not an extension for speculators.

...

Just got a PM from a DNF member saying these dot TV Premiums are expensive.

Yes they are. In fact they are end user price and not reseller price.

In fact due that the renewal cost is the same as the acquisition price then the aftermarket for dot TV is almost dead.

If you do not have a real project then it makes no sense to buy a premium dot TV.

...

Overpriced. I heard they're releasing a personal tv station script which would be great it the prices were normal.

Do you believe that .tv market would be the most wanted in the domain industry?

I believe that after these prices the roumor that .tv domains are equal to real estate investment becomes true...

What do you say?

although again i say, huge potential because of the tv angle obviously, i see quite a lot used on telly for debt sites etc, but maybe would appeal to limited area.. dunno
i mean things like snooker.tv, fishing.tv, football.tv , porn.tv, dating.tv etc are obvious
i bet they want telephone numbers for these & then you're not safe, could be hiked further 2 years later.
potentially the biggest ripoff in domaining history. a lot of people have been stung already...
if you are going to develop & spend money on advertising & development costs too, makes you even more susceptible.
i doubt they get any traffic either. maybe the top premiums do.
i might get one or two, but NON-premiums for sure, & that's a mobi...
i mean a maybe ;)

Well, thanks for the update guys. Yes, it is way too over priced for sure.

Thanks to Cybertonic and Predator for the insights. Always appreciated.

I interviewed the VP of Marketing. Here is an excerpt from the interview posted at my .tv site

"All 53,000 Premium Names that have been off the market for close to five months will be available for registration beginning at 1pm Pacific time (4pm Eastern) on Tuesday May 1. Go to DomainsInDemand.tv to register Premium Names. Please note that Verisign is responsible for setting the prices of Premium dot tv domain names and not enom.tv or Demand Media."

Doesn't the .tv ext limit your expected use to television ? Sorry but $500 per year to renew a limited use domain is taking the biscuit. Icann could fix this rip-off with a .tube .media .cast or something like that.

There are no limits on any domains but I might suggest that video content on .tv is the most appropriate and video on the net is hot right now.
