Looks like Twitter and Godaddy have some kind of partnership. Just logged in to godaddy and up pops a window about Twitter, explaining what it is, and that you should buy your Twitter username as a domain. Wonder how many sign ups Twitter will get out of this.

A win win situation. I thought Twitter might have started to level off by now, but I still hear about it almost every day on the radio and in the news, lots of people using it. I think Twitter is becoming as important as Facebook and MySpace for social media.

I heard the average person uses Twitter for about 30 days, then quits. I am in that statistic. Too many updates flying in, even when I'm only following a few people (<50).

That happened to me too, then I went back after a while. If you have something to market it's a great way to get a message out fast, and build a following of interested people. Also a good way to follow people you're interested in. A lot of news gets posted on Twitter the instant it happens, so it has the features of media and instant search.

I am interested in knowing how Twitter works. Who gets the messages once we post them. Is it only the ones who are following or also those who are followed?

It shows up on the pages of everyone following you, plus it will show up in a twitter search if someone types in a keyword of a word in your post. For example, if you do a post about "domains", someone searching for domains may see your post, click through to your twitter page, and start to follow you.

Twitter isn't growing, by any real account. Over two thirds of registered accounts never have anything posted in them, and roughly 20% of all accounts (and growing, percentage wise) are actually spam bots.

If anyone's interested, I'm more than happy to sell you software that can automatically register hundreds, if not thousands of Twitter accounts, in an hour, and then start to target people to follow you... hell, it even automates the message posting for you if you feed it a file with all the crap you want to say and links you want to post.

You guys must be deep in slumber. This is why I have lost a lot of respect for so called domainers. Pretenders them all. Seem to think they know everything about anything.

Twitter is not a fad. It is not merely a social network, but a communication platform.

I have to date sold over 5k in Twitter names. Check Twit Store for more info on what companies are doing with Twitter.

So much display of ignorance is frankly a bad reflection on a forum like this. But, this is nothing be surprised about.

Keep believing in your perceptions and miss out. You reap what you sow.

Chris, you do know it's actually against Twitter's terms of service to sell accounts, right?

What are you going to do if you sell an account that then gets deactivated for a breach of TOS, and a customer gets pissed?

Harvey,
Am not selling Twitter accounts. I am well aware of its TOS. I was referring to Twitter brand domain names. Check TwitStore!

Just yesterday CoTweet.com got 1.1 Million in funding. And many more are on the way.

Twitter may have the rights to 'Tweet' as a TM to protect their business, but it would be used against those using it's newly acquired mark in bad light.

What you said about Twitter may eventually come true as no business stays at the top or in media spotlight forever. Myspace anyone!

But today, Twitter has momentum. It would be a mistake to ignore where it is headed.
