I think that you and I agree on what a type-in is Big Fart. It's a URL that is typed directly into the browser address bar.
Many people here seem to think that it is something that is typed into a search engine - hence the question I expect. The most likely person to type a url into a search engine is the site owner (or his competitors) anyone else would type the phrase only.

Nobody really types .net as a type in.

BOB owns coffee.net... it gets 10-15 type-ins a day...

I'm sure the .com gets many many thousands.

Coffee.net is of course an excellent domain - memorable and prestigious - and therefore has considerable appeal, and hence "value".

But the previous posters are quite right - .net gets very few typeins. Our best .net only gets around 75/day (wrestling.net).

.org gets more typeins than .net, but of course then you need to factor in whether or not people who type .org are in a frame of mind to actually part with cash...

habitat.org
oneearth.org

blah blah, see them all the time on Nat Geo

You are right about the frame of mind though. Many .org outfits expect to get, rather than give.
