Hi Guys,

I recently registered europeanunion.it through GoDaddy. I am not aware that european union is a trademark, may be ignorance on my part, however I recieved this email below:

I am not sure as to the reality of this as I reserched the company in question and could find nothing.

I look forward to your assistance and feedback.

Regards

Warrick

It looks like a 2 part attack.

First, they are going to enforce residency requirement.

"Registry, requires that the registrant of the domain as well as the
Admin Contact has to have a place of general jurisdiction within Europe."

And, the second point is having the right to use the TM term.

If you fail step #1, they got you.

Thanks for the response actnow.

One question: Do you know if "European Union" is a trademark ?

What steps would you reccommend from my side ?

Thanks in advance.

Re 2. they said: potentially.
It could depend on how the domain used.
But you need to be EU resident in order to hold .it domains.
