.US domains for UK guy ?

I have a number of .us domains but I always believed that they could only be purchased by US (these were pushed to my account)

I have been told that the restrictions have been relaxed but can't find any info confirming this.

Does anyone know if it's ok for a UK guy to own .us domains - and if it is, could you point me to the official URL that states this.
