Hi,

What is the typical value or sales price of a 4L.com domain?
I'm looking at a LLLL.com domain right now in which I want, and the seller is talking sh:t. He's trying to condemn me in paying a high price, in which he's being stiff about.

The price he's asking is $3,500...this domain I want, but I don't want it that bad I don't think. It's not a pronouncable four letter .com either. It has two vowels and isn't a word...

What are 4-letter .com domains typically going for right now, and how can I go about offering him a lower price?

first thing comes to mind

the seller owns the domain and can ask whatever they want, but i'm sure you know that.

the other side is your side

you want it, but don't want it that bad to spend what the seller is asking.

so you figure you can "research" the going rates of LLLL.com and maybe go back to the seller and say...."based upon the current average selling prices of the following domains, your price is extremely higher than average market sales of similar domains"

then he'll respond "then go buy of those other domains" or maybe he'll come down in price....if he gets influenced by what others have sold for.

you need to consider 'how many other offers or how much interest he has received in the past for the domain".

the more inquiries on a domain, the higher it's perceived value and potential increases to the seller. this gives him more confidence that one day the right buyer will come along.
you also should take into consideration his "need to sell".

if his portfolio is self-sustainable, then his urgency to sell will be low.

one last point

viewing a domains value based on today's prices can be a big mistake for sellers and buyers

you must ask yourself, "how much will this domain be worth in five years?"

or in your case, if you spend the $3500 now, in five years how much will the domain/website be worth then?

a lot of things to consider when you're the buyer
