Say there is a domain.com worth $10,000. Just the domain - no site, no traffic, etc..

Simple question for discussion:

What would you value that domain in other TLDs? Again, no site, no traffic, just the domain. Even a down-the line % value would be OK, doesn't have to be monetary.

.net?
.org?
.info?

Even some ccTLDs?
.ca
.co.uk
.us
.de

etc.

I've seen a few times that a .com domain will sell for some good money but other TLDs are available to register.

In a nutshell, I'm wondering if there is a formula / percentage for figuring out the value of a domain based on the TL of one that sold.

.net 10%-20%/$1000-$2000
.org 15%-25%/$1500-$2500
.info 5%-15%/$500-$1500

ccTLDs also depend on language and local context, so harder to value relative to the TLDs, imo.

...but I would say 5%-20% of .com for .ca .co.uk .us .de .asia .eu; .tv .mobi have their own niche

The above is a generality of course, as there are always exceptions to the norm, and the wild card 'national pride' which may come into play with ccTLDs, or 'intrinsic value' desires which may lead someone to pay whatever they want for a name.

Agree.
But I say .org 20%-25% these days.

For stronger terms, .NET and .ORG 3-8% of .COM. Some commercial terms are worth little in .ORG while some very poignant terms with .ORG (ie - Donate.org, Scholarships.org, Education.org) may be worth a lot more than 3-8% of .COM. For weaker (but not worthless) terms, the only extension with any value is likely the .COM. Major true keyword terms are probably worth more like 10-15% of .COM (ie - Radio.net, Sex.org).

$0 value down the line

exceptions are but not always, include....3 lll/nnn ll/nn ln/nl etc.

the value of a .com does not automatically give other tld's intrinsic value

every other tld's value is based on it's own merit.

what's interesting to me is that you perceive that all other tld's should have a value less than the .com

when i know for a fact, that there are members here who have sold LLL.org for more than the .com has sold for.

There are ccTLD's that will sell for more than a .com.

There are some things you cannot compare...and if you do...you're losing out by putting a price ceiling on your names.
