Venture Capital ?

Is this an idea worth tossing about in here ?

I haven't seen any venture capital offered around for new projects in a long time.

I can see no good reason why we, ( as in members of the forum) with a group of people who have the skill and knowledge that abounds in this forum , cant get together to come up with something that can make money on the internet without having to go to PPC or affiliates and work for peanuts.

The big Corporations may have done the dough, but that was their own fault in most of the cases that i have seen, they had not much of a good business plan, and they spent money like it would never run out.

Some of you in here know that the cost of setting up and running a business on the internet can be accomplished with a minimum of capital.

Is anyone interested in throwing a few ideas into the ring, perhaps forming a group and pooling financial resources with the view to putting all this mostly wasted talent in the DNF into a real money making venture.

I would be interested in such a venture, is anybody else ? the time is right for something new on the net, most of it is old hat same old stuff same old ideas, nothing much has changed for Years.

Throw you thoughts and ideas in here and perhaps we can bring those new ideas to fruition, and come up with the money to fund such things as a Co-op or a partnership group to get these things up and running.

i'm not trying to bleed anyones ideas off them here i am interested in the financial backing for those that do have a new strategy in mind and don't have the resources to follow it thru.

venture capital a great way for newer players to jump in with the cooperation of skilled players as i am sure there are plenty of very talented people here with the right funding could rock.

the only problem i see is the usual requirement for capital investment is a more stable enviorment

i am against haveing any substantial money invested ie roi of more then a year

as to much uncertainty and regulatory chaos

but like any other op the plan will have to sway the investors

tough to do here as many will be reluctant to share metrics with so many spectators but any one who has the resources should ask for proprosals

wasnt there a koren bank that took domains as colleteral at one time

if your on this forum and playing domians your risk tolerance is high or at least was on entry

anyone that has capital that wants to venture i can book it a ticket


interesting thought car can you expand your thought on specfics

investment groups?

development?
infrastructure?

buying?

or services related?

Thanks for your input avs152 and miles.

My thoughts are not of outside capital, banks or investment groups who require bricks and mortar security.

There are enough people here that could put up the finance to carry out any such enterprise, to try and clarify it more, i would propose forming a group from with-in our own ranks to be the venture capital behind the proposed venture.

We at least have some idea of what is required, and the understanding of the system that most outsiders don't have a clue about what your talking about when it comes to the internet.

There wont be any quick returns nor any guarantee of success, that is one very good reason to spread the risk over a group of investors who can take the hard knocks when they come.

I think this is a good idea potentially. More people, less risk finaincailly, but more opportunity for misunderstanding.

I'd look at it - depends on the $ though because as everyone knows, I am not a rich man.

On a broader scale though, as you pointed out - there is a lot of experience in here that could be probably employed at little or no upfront cost, but could be considered part of the investment - and recouped later.

That experience would give a good head start.

I have quite a number of very viable ideas....both within the domain name community, and those which extend slightly into other fields such as PPC's.

There has not been enough interest in forming a finacial goup
to try to find a new direction.

If the domain name owners are not interested what does that tell you. new ideas will never get off the drawing board.

Things will remain the same, the useual stuff find traffic names and let the so called big guys make the major bucks, keep on sending them the traffic, or hope to sell a name for the jackpot.

One of these days the surfer will get sick of being taken for a mug, when every time they type in a name they land in porno land or some pop up sticky lousy search engine.
