It is still doubtful that anyone else has earnt the right to step in to Verisigns shoes particularly at the dot com level. It would have been very difficult to justify handing over dot com when nobody else reached the required standard to takeover the dot net.
However, I feel Verisign could be doing more to push things forward. Pushing through the implementation of the First Level of IDN is something that should be being made a priority, and I feel should have been made an explicit target for them during their next period of tenure.
