I signed up for a bunch of domain names (from multiple Yahoo! accounts) during the Yahoo $2.99 / year promotion; I bought the domains for 5-year terms and expected to pay $14.95 (I did not subscribe to ANY other services).

However, my credit card was billed $49.75 for each of these domains. I protested the charge with the CC company, but they rejected the protest saying that the service has already been delivered (stupid remark, but what can I do?)

Has anyone else faced this problem and how can it be resolved? I could not find any yahoo e-mail or contact phone where this matter can be raised directly with Yahoo! Can anyone provide me with such a contact e-mail?

Also, any idea how I can identify each CC charge with a specific domain? The CC charge does not (of course) indicate the domain name and it becomes difficult to identify which charge pertains to which domain.

Any help will be much appreciated - and apologies in advance if this issue has been raised before and I missed it then

I am sure by regging it there was written in small letters, that the $2.99 is only for first year.Yahoo pays $6.25, so no-one can expect they want to have millions of domains regged and loose $3.26 every year on each...

That is true, I have had FREE domains when I was new to domaining, but the 2nd year is always a LOT more for these names unless you move them. I reged a name there (1 name, not a whole bunch) but I did it as a test of the names traffic. I do not plan to keep it there for a year if I decide to keep it.

Well, this is precisely why I avoid the kind of registrar that is trying to build his business on such deals. It is in my opinion better to have all your names at a small number of venues that give a good service at a reasonable price.

Like most IDNers I use www.domainsite.com because of the excellent functionality of the interface and the year in year out reasonable prices.

Best Regards

I registered 1 domain with them, then decided not using them since the interface and service is terrible. A year went by and they said (email) they would automatically renew using my cc. The domain had no use to me, so I wanted to let it drop, however, I forgot about it, and got charged $9.95.

My suggestion, don't use them. What looks cheap is expensive.
