So that it didn't appear I was trying to give myself a bump on the appraisals board, I decided to start a new thread here.

I just reg'd FreeVideoBlogs.com. As many are aware, VideoBlog.com recently sold for $21K.

Some of the issues people have with video blogs:
  • Most people who like reading blogs just scan through their favorites, they never actually sit down and read through the whole thing. Having to sit and watch a 5 minute video blog would be time consuming.
  • Hosting for a 5mb video watched by thousands of people would be expensive.
  • Videos would be forced to be low quality and tiny
  • Everyone has a keyboard, not everyone has a webcam
  • SEO - Search engines don't crawl through a video finding keywords...yet.

So, I'd appreciate anyone's opinions on video blogging. I have a few videoblog names in mind, and I'm just wondering if they are worth the investment, or if I should just register hundreds of .info keyword names and park them instead.

Also, is it going to be "VLOG" "VBLOG" or "VIDEOBLOG"?

Thank you for your time!

I dont know if this will catch on,I just like to read short snippets on blogs,I would rather not wait for a video to download and watch it. But I dont know this may become a hit.
But I prefer text ;)

Maybe one day DNF will be completely video. lol, imagine seeing 20 different faces saying "reg fee".

If you take a look at the sample site I gave, you have the option of just having a really really small snippet that's quick to download, and still have text. If the readers wanted to, they could download and watch the whole video. This saves bandwidth, and will probably make the transition from all text blogs to video blogs smoother.
