.VN 2nd Level Domains to be Released in July

Greetings. There is an important announcement regarding the .VN ccTLD that you may find usefull. DotVN Inc., the exclusive online registrar and the official authorized global marketing agent for Vietnam, will be releasing the second level .VN domain names (www.xyzcompany.VN) in July 2006. We know many of our your clients will wish to register their existing domain name/s with the soon to be released second level TLD, therefore, DotVN is accepting advanced reservation requests up until the launching.

The new TLD domain names will be available to our special resellers for $200.00 USD per domain/year. The suggested public retail price for the new TLD’s will be $250.00 USD per domain/year. Below are the main regulations for registering these second level .VN domains.

-Use only letters, letter and numbers, or hyphen ("-").
-Do not enter spaces or other punctuation.
-Cannot begin or end with a hyphen.
-Must have at least 3 characters, but no more than 63 including .VN.

DotVN is currently offering a pre registration period to our partners and resellers until the second level is actually released to the public. If your company is interested in registering domain names for any of your clients, we would like to offer you a reseller's contract and allow you to make advanced registrations once the contract is returned.

Well, just preregistered two nice ones. Hopefully one of them will be approved . Nic.VN & Hanoi.VN. Out of all the top keywords searched only one, Porn.vn seems to be available.

I think .vn will be a difficult one to market; I mean
it's not like .tv, which can claim it is the TLD for
television.

Aside from that, however, there are some quite strict
policies governing what the TLD can be used for; I
hope it does well in Vietnam, and I am sure it will,
but as far as the domaining community at large is
concerned .vn will be of no interest.

(businesses actually wanting to trade in Vietnam,
however, and show a real presence there, probably
should get one of these domains...).
