I was wondering if anyone has had to deal with the w32myzor.fk@yf Virus or whatever it is, and how do you get rid of it? This is a problem on a computer of somebody I know.

Also, have him download and install Win Media Player 11 (BETA). It appears this virus/malware attacks only older WMP and unpatched/updated systems; He can download the BETA here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en

You need to sate more facts. What AV software identified a file(s) as having the

w32myzor.Fk@yf

What is the fuully qualified name and path to the file(s) deemed infected with the above ?

Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --

http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe

To use this utility, perform the following...

Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }

Choose; Unzip

Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT

{ or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your

FireWall to allow it to download the needed AV vendor related files.

C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT -- { or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS}

This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal Mode.

This way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor's web site.

The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Kaspersky, Exit this menu and Reboot the PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you can

download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded the files

needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key

during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run in Safe

Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive PDF help

file. http://www.ik-cs.com/multi-av.htm

I hate viruses, they got my computer 4 times and crashed it, I wised up and got a hardware firewall hooked up and running. I have had no problems with viruses from then on, them 4 crashes cost me alot. I lost the best photo shoot I ever had, a few weeks used $300 laptop hard drive I used on my desktop.

The cost me buying a new 250 GB desktop hard drive, and over a week of work I worked on my computer to fix it 4 times. That hardware firewall I already had, but never hooked it up till after it was to late. AVG got taken off my system, it did not get the virus before it was to late. Infact the virus stopped AVG dead in it's tracks, I could not do anything but reboot my system.

It targeted AVG and used it to stop my system dead going into XP, the last time I tricked it and got into XP. And shut AVG down that was after about 50 tries, but once it was shut off I got the virus off my system. Then put avast on it and have had no problems, so the hardware firewall and avast worked 100%. It's been 5 months or so now, I have noticed avast has stopped many viruses so far.

OK, I'm a regular guy. I Have porn sites I like.. and other sites on the seedier side of the web.. but I just don't get how everyone keeps getting virus'???

Do you check Microsoft.com every second tuesday of the month for the latest patches?
Do you run SpyBot SD AND AdAware?
Do you use a PAID FOR Anti Virus? (I recommend the all new Windows OneCare with an excellent firewall)

Honestly, I spend about 12 hours a week helping people I dont know online (for free no less) rid themselves of virus' and malware in general... and after that, give them a brief tutorial on how to stay safe online.... and no, it doesnt include not visiting porn :)

It really is just soo simple to not get infected... so please, if you get infected from something, let me know what you got and where you think you got it from and any mitigating circumstances (eg; you answered that spam from "sarah" saying how hot you are and to contact her via her msn messenger addy.)

it just might save me 2 hours a week if I can only find out where this crap is coming from.

I think the viruses I got, was from one of my systems ports. I seen 100's of tries on ports, but I'm on cable so this is a know problem for sure. They can defeat software firewalls, and it would seem to be the case in my case. And AVG did not find the virus once it was on my system, they had it tragger on start up. Then AVG would find the virus and frezze the system dead in it's tracks, the only way around this happening.

Was for me to get to AVG and shut it down, as the system was loading other stuff in the back round. Witch is very hard to do, but I managed to use the key board, and mouse at the same time to do it a few times after much practice. This was after not knowing what was going on 3 other times, but once I found out I stopped it. I then got the virus off my system, then installed a hardware firewall. There is only one way into my system now, and avast is watching that port.

All this happen with 2 software firewalls running, they do stop most hits on ports. But the only way I could stop them, was to install the hardware firewall. This is a known problem on high speed internet connections, I learn that the hard way of course. With them having a high speed connection, they can try many different ways in a short time. But I have not had any problems, after the hardware firewall was installed.

They really need to start giving these people jail time, there is no need for this kind of damage. But they make these programs, that anyone can run and damage peoples systems with. I'm not sure why they don't get hard with them, and start going after these people that make the programs.

Do you have a static IP with like.. AOL or some other provider?

My addy is static on cable as well... and while I used to log several hits per our...they were invariably pings from various sources. some undoubtedly virus'. But nothing ever got in.. even before I was using firewalls (I use the firewall now specifically as an anti-malware device since I havent had a virus in probably 2 years or so now).

Using IE 7 for the past 6 months or so, the worst I've had is tracking cookies..and thats only cause I allow them. That may be something you want to try if this is a persistant problem.
SpyBot SD's "tea timer" works, but is too intrusive for my tastes, so I dont recommend it.

While this is not a protection system, it is something I found very useful in mantaining my system Even as anal about my PC as I am, this improved my performance roughly 5fold. well worth the price: Free :)

Thanks!

I'll give that program a try looks good, I'm hooked right into comcast network port. In otherwards I'm on the same ip as long as I got my system online, and it's online for days at a time untill I reboot.

I could not use comcast's new software at all, so they put my modem on a direct connection to the network. I never have to login in otherwards, it just logs my modem and clears it to a ip. That gives a target right to my system, but with the hardware firewall up my system is hidden behind it. My modem and ATA for my intenet phone service, is all going through the firewall as well.

This leaves only one hidden port open to my system, if they ever find away through that. Then I got a 2nd hardware router/firewall I can install, so that they would never get through as it will router it differently every time. Of course such a setup, would be a pain to get working right at first. I had it working, but as soon as I rebooted it stopped working right so I left just the firewall up.

Edited In:

Sweettttt program, it found 40 problems and fixed them all with out any problems. Then it made 38 changes to speed up my system, and internet speed with out any problems as well. This has to be the best program I used yet, and it's free to boot it don't get any better then that.

Thanks! Tim :whoo:
