For Information:

Only way to "not be under" is to go direct to Enom and pay $6995 - any other way will mean you are under someone, main ETP or sub-account.

I don't believe that Enom will allow an active (with names) account to be deleted.
Only danger is in price increases - reseller above up's your reg charges, but I havn't heard any horror stories there either. Choosing carefully from members here or other well-known boards (Webhostingtalk.com for example) would be a good safeguard.

if the account has NO names or funds in it, then you can delete. then the deleted account can be recovered by using the "forgotten password" form, a password will be sent to the email address listed in under that account. you can access it again, and your not under anybody. The account will have the same pricing as when it was deleted.

Yes I have.

Actually, I bought an account from a seller here a while ago, then I emailed him and told him to delete it. he probably thought I was nut! but then I used the forgot password form to get it back.

Enom "USED" to set a default password for deleted accounts call "askDeleted", so if your account got deleted, you can simply access it again by logging in with your username, and password as "askDeleted". But they realised this was a problem, so now, when you delete an account, the password is "randomNumber+askDeleted", thats why you now need to have a valid email address in your account before it gets deleted, because thats where your password will be emailed to. also, you MUST remember the answer to your secret question to get the password sent to you.

PS. This is how it "used" to work, and im pretty sure its still like that, but I must say that do it at your own risk, dont blame me if their system changed. maybe you should try it on a $8.95 account first.

also, some people may not know this, but you can still set sub accounts to AS LOW AS your pricing IF that account was created BEFORE enom's price policy changed. so if your account is $6.95, you can set ALL accounts created before the new policy changed to $6.95 also.

However the $6.95 sub-accounts would then actually cost you money each time a name was reg'd by the sub-account holder would'nt they due to Enom charges?

I used this method to recover 2 accounts that I lost the password for. The 2 accounts were under me, but I couldnt access it because I didnt have the password, so I set it to the lowest possible price, then I deleted it. I recovered the password and gain access to it using the method I mention above. My main account was $7.10, I set the account to be deleted to $7.10, and the price was still $7.10 when it was recovered.

But hey, that was before...now im not too sure, and because these accounts are so valuable now, I wouldn't take the risk if I dont have to.

I dont see why it would, firstly, you can make a complaint saying theres no such account under you.

2nd. It should act just like any normal $6.95 account. that sub account holder can reg their name for $6.95 using funds in their account, which there are no fees, and if theres any charges on fees such as registryrocket, then it'll be charged to the person that's regging the name.
