just a heads up for anyone using gmail for their whois

Gmail decided that 1 of my addressesw is now 'reserved', and I no longer have access to it.
no spam, no problems, just a keywoard that is 'reserved' even though I have been using it for over 9 months!

imagine the mess had I forgotten the password to my registrar(s) and had no access to my domains!!!

Sorry to hear that, but you should have NEVER used a free e-mail account for critically important mission, not to say that Gmail is still under beta. I only use Gmail for backup and/or archiving.

I usually do not use gmail or any other free service.
but in the last month did so for specific reasons.
I worte them and no reply other than the standard reply and that the address is now reserved(!!!)
I guess because the address itself might confuse someone that it is owned by gmail itself (which is kind of dumb). it was a good one too, sort of like webmaster@gmail as far as keyword.
anyhow, I only did it to serve a purpose, but i wont be doing it again.

oh, so they're taking your account away, I think they have their reasons.

the reason is that the address is now reserved.
I have been using it precisely for a year (since it began) not 9 months like i said.
no spam, nothing.
I am sure this will happen to other major keyword addresses at gmail...

I use joe@ Slabaugh.org to forword to my gmail account, and then use pop access to download it, but if they toke my account it would hurt. It would however be better then if I had slabaugh@ gmail.com in the whois... I can then just change the forword to another address.

why would you be screwed?
it says the address is now reserved.
first, you cant log in, then you ask support, and you get that email.
you want my exact email???

I think what he is saying, what was the "keyword" that they reserved, so he can change his own

Yeah, cause it's not yours anymore, so why would it matter?

I want to see if mine could be disabled. I have like 500 emails / day coming into my gmail account, and I use it for everything

I think it's google's fault, they should've reserved important keywords in the first place.
