Hey all...
Just a word of warning... Network Solutions, per usual, has taken a decent idea and screwed it up to the point of ruin. Stay away from their "Certified Offers" system... This warning is for several reasons:
1) Most importantly, they put a pre-authorization hold on your credit card (or worse, debit card) for the full amount of your offer, plus their fees (of course), from the moment you make the offer and WHETHER OR NOT the offer is accepted by the "seller"... a process that can take more than 15 days, followed by another 5-7 days of "releasing the hold" on your funds. So, let's say you find a gem of a domain, and place a $50,000 offer on it... Network Solutions will immediately place a hold on those funds (making them completely unavailable)...and for those who use debit Visa cards, the funds will be removed from your checking/savings account and made unavailable (as if they were completely gone) for the duration of the "transaction" ...again... WHETHER OR NOT THE TRANSACTION IS APPROVED BY THE SELLER!
2) The system isn't "smart" by any means... so, if the domain owner has an invalid email address... or if the domain is past the redemption period (and therefore is inaccessible by the now 'former' owner), the offer will still be accepted, your funds taken, and the whole process will chug along while your funds are unavailable.
3) It's Network Solutions... need I say more??
I know that most of us are smart enough to contact the owners directly... but for those who are drawn to the ability to contact owners with confidential contact information... be warned. Network Solutions is all about taking your money and not delivering much value for it. Reconsider...
I hope that helps you all!
