Here is an email I just received.
No way the IRS has my email address - besides - they would address you only with a formal letter or notice. In addition to that - I have never heard of the IRS voluntarily offering a refund:

**************
After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of $268.32
Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 2-3 days in order to
process it.

To access the form for your tax refund, please click here

Definitely a scam and also a federal crime. In the interest of getting some of these scammers off the street, I'd suggest contacting the FBI...

That's a brave scammer, guy must have balls of steal. Out of all the things to impersonate the last thing you pick is a government agency like the IRS with 100k employees. At least one of em will get that email.

Definately report him to i3.gov, FBI, IRS, and anyone else you can think of. Need to get these people off the streets so I dont have to delete 300 spam messages every couple of hours.

True!

I've never got this yet and I'm usually the first to get any new spams.

But hey.. IRS sending an EMAIL about a RETURN ON TAX - that's even less possible than winning $20M in the British, or Microsoft lottery
