We as a community, have a better advantage then you all think. There certainly are not many places that people from all over the world can interact with eachother in minutes and even secconds time.

This community, although still growing; is filled with all kinds of skills, some not even quite related to the domain industry. I feel that we have the ability to reach many people because we literally have people from all over the world.

Finding someone that needs a good, or service is quite easy. Everyone is always needing something to improve the quality of thier business, home, themselves and whatever else. However, finding someone that needs the specific good or service that you can provide, well its not so easy.

My idea is simple. Because we cover such a large area in this world, each and every person has the ability to reach out and bring in people that are in need of a specific good or service. With such a large selection of professions this forum is filled with, if we put our heads together, and work as a team; well there is no limit to what we can do.

Once we get things in order, each individual person can and should bring in individual clients. We can and should arrange a contacts list so that each person can be contacted if his or her skills are needed.

A majority of the people dont visit forums when they are in need. Most people are waiting for YOU to come to them. Why wait for someone to post a wanted ad, when you could be bringing in clients left and right from a much MUCH bigger pool? Of course some things need to be worked out, but this is just a rough draft of this idea.

If you are infact interested, we need to create a networking list. Networking is by far the most successful means of business. Below, simply tell a little about what you can do, Where you live, what your abilities are, and why you think you could contribute.

You may Post, PM or email me at Andrew1387 @ gmail.com

I have been interested ion doing something like this for a long time, my issue is if someone submits they have a skill it is very hard to establish that they do without checking some credentials. Everyone thinks they are a web designer but in fact most are not talented at it at all. So we need some system in place to check credentials or we just setup another way for people to get scammed.

A good example would be posting that somene is an SEO person and letting them collect money and seeing no progress on the listings.

Just my thoughts, but I am into it if we can figure out a way to benefit eveyone.

Yes, there will be things that have to be worked out to insure that this goes smoothly.

It may infact be a good idea to have services approved before individuals are inlisted onto the network list. My view on this is that we will do what needs to be done.

There are a lot of bright people on this forum...Ideas, suggestions all welcome.

Great idea Andrew!

"This community, although still growing; is filled with all kinds of skills, some not even quite related to the domain industry."

Why not have a directory of member's goods and services that are NOT related to the domain industry?

Yep, my plan is to develope a full network of people to cover almost anything imaginable.

Think of the possibilities. It will change the internet and the forum we work in forever!

I couldn't agree more with this man. Ive been had a couple times now... there's no way to avoid that. Does raise my blood pressure though! The effort is certainly commendable, but the execution of it will be its' downfall -

There would have to be some trusted network like that of LinkedIn.com - I could see that happening. LinkedIn works alot like what you are invisioning - every person invited to your professional "network" is sort of vouched for and the person that vouches for said person, their reputation is on the line. (held accountable)

Im game, if we can get something like that worked out.

Thats actually not a bad idea. I think its safe to say, for now... anyone new to the forum... or anyone with anything but a positive reputation will not be able to participate in this.

I also feel that it would be a good idea to have a so called "treasurer" that will handle the funds, and devide them up accordingly. This will illiminate single scams and prevent the system from being over taken.

We will have a commission based system for anyone willing to bring in clients... Please PM me if you are willing to devote any type of goods or services to this network. I want to begin building something from this as soon as possible.

A lot of people do make claims they dont backup but in general i think most of the users are honest.

That being said, yeah i've been taken for a ride a few timesby members.. but Meh, thats part of life.. it happens everywhere, especially on the internet.

i think dnforum should stick to domains rather than going into web designing, specific topics do far better than when you try and expand into different fields, imo you come here to learn about domains, buy and sell domains and discuss domain issues, you want seo done or web hosting or web designing you goto a web design forum or a seo forum or a web hosting forum or just search google for it. You are far more likely to get a diverse opinion on a seo forum about seo issues than here with perhaps several seo experts!

just my 2 pence.

What's facility is there currently to participate ? LinkedIn ? Custom Site ?

I think it'd be a good idea for Adam to kick off the network and they work down from there.. a positive reputation is too easy to come by, and I've been screwed by members with a positive rep - The real rep comes from dealing with those in Adam's Network... it trickles down from there... Just a thought.

If DNF is facilitating the network. Id say we use DNF's Escrow Service. If the network is semi-independent of DNF we still need an escrow service - No one person should be ruler of thy treasure chest. That's gray area even in close proximity to people, nevermind over the 'net (Escrow.com ?)

It'll be interesting to see how that works out. What kind of commission you talking about ? 30-45% - that's how much sales professionals charge in MD/DC area.

No DNF will not be facilitating the network, it will be on DNF but apart from it. Why would I put so much effort into this idea just to have someone else kick it off?

Just to make this crystal clear as the thread progresses: It's indeed an interesting initiative, but it has nothing to do with DNF until the Administrators say so.

I wouldn't let scepticism get in the way of a good idea.

So out of my curiosity, what is it exactly that we're trying to build? Some sort of network of workers/professionals who can work for each other? Joining together as a "firm" to sell our combined product and services to outside clients? Conceptually, this needs some hedging. For example, who decides whom a quality web designer or programmer is, and how many are let in, how do we give them all work, etc. Keep at it though, sounds interesting.

Maybe that came out the wrong way. :eek:hwell: Im not saying or annointing any particular person to/should kick off anything. I said, or atleast it was my intention, that if it's part of DNF the trusted network should start with Adam *maybe* - not to lay claim to your idea, but in respect to how LinkedIn works... It might be a good idea.

Just a thought. Great idea - Good luck
