In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli (E.coli) bacteria found in feces.

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of feces. However, we don't run that risk when drinking wine (or rum, whiskey, beer or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember:

Water = feces
Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit.

Whenever people talk about this kind of thing, I have to remind them that the current generations are exposed to LESS dirt, bacteria, sunlight, feces, etc than any in our history. Knowledge of bacteria and use of refridgeration is a very recent thing.

Is that bad? YES.

The current thinking on all of the epidemic of kids with allergies, especially life-threatening alergies to nuts, is that we are keeping TOO clean, and not eating enough feces and 'bad' stuff. Non-use of your immune system makes it WEAKER, not stronger. There is no system or muscle in the human body that remains strong from NON use.

Germophobic people with anti-bacterial soap and obsessive sterization are the worst culprits, and they are helping to create stronger bacteria by killing the weaker strains.

I totally agree with that and there are tons of examples all over the world. Unless we kill all the bacteria and virus, we will have to wear space suites at all time to try to avoid infections if the purity theory takes over.

I understand what you are saying JP, and have actually learned quite a lot about this issue in my college courses... Just thought it was a pretty clever piece to share with everyone.
