I did not think it would be in time for my self, to help me live for a few 100 years. But knew kids of today would see it for them self's, but from what I have been researching at 45 I may well see some of that my self.

If I could live for 200 years, it may well keep me alive 1000's of years not 100's. Of course there are some that are trying to stop this, and yet others that want it for the few with the power and money to have it alone. Well experts are opening it up to all other experts, it's now a matter of having the information.

Kind of like open source projects, nice to see they are not letting anything stop them. The below link is to a good video on the state of research, and a few ways they are using it already, and a few ways it will be used shortly.
A very good video........

I would be more than happy to leave this world the moment I either return to diapers or can't wipe my own butt. Pull the plug, please.

The question is: what a life is?
Quality don't quantity.

Well couple of weeks ago I watched a program about future theories and they said that in 2040 or 2050 people will find a way to beat the death, in other words, they will discover immortality. Also they said that in 2030 or something Google will be unpopular and they will close it. So I just lmfao :)

I've been thinking the same thing, that we will find a way to beat death. Then if you don't want to live any more then you'll have to file an application to die or something or you just had to kill yourself, but that would be the illegal way of ending life of course. No one would really want to live forever, would they? I wouldn't mind living for a 150-200 years though, if I was healthy. :uhoh:

If you watched the video you would have seen, that it's not just about living much longer, but also staying healthy and in good health much longer as well. Getting worms to live 6X longer and healthy, as if they was much younger is key here.

We are no longer just talking about if they can, but when they can and how they will do it. Growing a human jaw bone after it was cut out, is no small thing and showing how they can easy clone a heart. They are starting to treat people with this stuff, and they have found the gene that ages us already.

And are working on slowing it way down, or even turning back the human aging clock. We are not talking about a few 100's years away anymore, some of this stuff is being used already to help and save people. In a short time they went from getting worms to live 2X the life span, to now living 6X the life span and really being as healthy as the slowed down aging clock.

Sounds interesting. I'll watch the video later, but gotta flee now.

BTW, if they can make worms live 6 x longer, then the future's looking bright for us. After all, domainers are worms right? :)

Live forever?
That really would be a 'living hell'. Hell on earth to be precise.
One of the beauties of life and anything come to that is that it doesnt last forever.
In fact if it never ended, there would be no point to that life. A journey must come to an end, or you never arrive! ;)

I'd hate to be 100+ and applying for a job because my retirement wasn't large enough.

In order for this to happen there must be a a treatment for cancer first. If you live long enough, you will get cancer. It's not a matter of probability. It's a fact. If someone lives long enough then somewhenre in his body cancer will evolve. Some get cancer young, some old, and some never get it because they die before they get it.

When people start living 100 years there will be a huge increase in cancer and cardiovascular diseases. The public funds will not be able to support the massive health care expenses. And not to mention retirement expenses - There will be one working person for 4, 5 or more retired persons. How will any economy be able to support this

The major problem with us living longer is overpopulation - the world can barely support the number of people on it now.

Not true. China has over 1 billion in population and there not only surviving but thriving-same for India. This world could handle much more than the estimated 7 billion we currently have now. Overpopulation is a myth created by the media.

We'll need ot take full advantage of a lot of the technology we have now, which no one is doing, to make it possible.

Transporting water thousands of miles, desalinization plants, etc..

And, with people living longer the population will shoot up.

They should be able to turn off the cancer gene and other gene's, that make people sick. One thing that would be a real problem I think, would be keeping peoples brains working right over longer time frames.

Our brains would stop working because of many things, so living forever would have it's limits anyway. So aging would not be the only limit to that, and at what point would life be not worth keeping alive. Because of that limit with in all of us, if they cloned some ones brain.

To fix faults with it would it still be that person afterwards, because our brains are what make us who we are, and the way that we are and is the last thing to die. But they may well keep humans living for 1000's of years, but it would seem to me anyway god did put a limit in place.

As domainers, we don't die - we simply drop and re-register ourselves.

Quantity of life without quality is of much lesser value. The vast majority of our most respected climate scientists are predicting a severe shortage of energy, food, and water in the coming years unless drastic measures are taken now to stop the destruction of our environment. Many people are ignoring and even waging campaigns to suppress and belittle this truth.

Our only chance of prosperity and happiness in the forseeable future is for strong elected local and national leaders to pass laws protecting us from the greed and ignorance of those who would destroy our environment for personal gain. A long life is good only if it is enjoyable.
