Definitely a nice sale!

However, when the top sale for the year doesn't even break $1 million, I think we all know the domain market has alot of growth left.

Well, that does seem to indicate that domains aren't reaching the lofty heights of before, but actually the picture is probably clouded by the fact that the really big numbers are being made on company takeovers, where the real value lies in the website and more precisely often in the domain. There have been a number of sales recently where it could be argued that the underlying domains went for tens of millions of dollars. Perhaps that will tend to be the way of things, with fewer undeveloped domains going for big bucks!

Best Regards

Good point. There is alot of incentive to develop top names. The value of the company often is tied to the underlying domain.

and with overture at only 35 per day with the extension that proves that overture is only one factor to consider when buying or evaluating a name

Another good point.

The recent PartnerCash.com sale for $110,000 confirms the same. "Partner cash" and "partnercash.com" both have a score of 0 in Overture.

I can understand website.com selling for $750,000 based on the number of pages in google with the term "website" at 997,000,000. This is a very brandable domain.

PartnerCash.com is a bit different only 3830 pages in Google with the phrase "partner cash" but there are 11,000,000 pages in Google with the words "partner" and "cash" in them, which makes this again a very brandable domain.

well i guess with that thought process ... the.com would have to be one of, if not the, top domains out there ... 3,200,000,000 returns

is ... 2,270,000,000
of ... 3,130,000,000
in ... 3,070,000,000
it ... 1,600,000,000
a ... 2,950,000,000

It seemed like that name had been for sale for years at around 100K. I think three years ago the name might have been sold for much less.

Nice to see that it received much more than that.

I saw website.com for sale on sedo about a year ago for the 1 million pricetag.

750,000 is a great buy for this domain, in my opinion its worth alot more, I would grab it for 750k if I had the money :p

Super sale! further supporting the value contained in good generic domains. Glad the seller held out for top dollar and didn't sell in the 100k range mentioned in the thread.
