Hi
Sometimes I see people selling names like rechtanwälte.de ..
Whats that ä there ? How does the DNS translate it ? Or do you need a special software like new.net ?

Thanks

ä = ä

Not sure how it works with DNS etc., though. Sorry.

I wonder if that's the real URL or just the HTML depiction of it to look like the real language characters on a web page. Unless the .de domain is different, I dont' think you can use any non alpha numeric other than the hyphen.

There was a test program where some domains with a hyphen in I think the third and fourth position translated to non-standard characters, but I don't think "&" was allowed.

Those characters are all supported by all Mozilla/Netscape browsers but have still not been implemented by IE yet (seems IE is taking forever with their next browser :angry:), you can get a plugin from Verisign that will make .com & .net work in IE.

You can get the plugin here.. http://www.idnnow.com/index.jsp

I think it is just a font/language issue.

Many times on my Mac, I see scandinavian type domains (all ASCII) that look like this, but when i go to another computer/browser, they are actually all ASCII letters.
