The guy doing this auction the other day was really strict and he kept an eye on it and removed bids from people who did not contact him and had low feedback scores.
Ebay is still full of a lot of junk sales so I guess a lot of people only look there occasionally, and I think any sales would need to be well advertised elsewhere
I have a feeling if this name had been advertised elsewhere it would have fetched twice as much if not significantly more
