ok- maybe i just really dont get it at all- all that i have read, and maybe i missed the big boat here-
i was going thru the sales ads, and there is FinancingHome.com for $20,000.00

i do a google search for the term "financing homes"
305,000 for "Financing Home" in google

i do a search on overture for financing home and get:
2016 home financing
347 motor home financing
206 modular home financing
132 mobile home financing
116 home improvement financing

its not even a term you would naturally say-

help me understand the 20,000 price tag- anyone help me understand- i know anyone can ask what they want, but this is based on "metrics" and i just dont understand ;-( did i miss a key element or something?

if BestCheapDomainRegistration.info can fetch $1,175, why can't it snap $20K? :D

Big money in financing homes. This domain itself is a seo domain, not a type in domain. I don't see it worth 20k myself but hey to each their own.

Mortgage business is BIG business. I am not surprised that someone is willing to pay that much for FinancingHome.com.

I sincerely believe that HomeFinancing.com worths more than 200K normally. Even the .net might cost just slightly less. FinancingHome.com is a good alternative if the prospect end user is not able to acquire the first 2, IMO.

On the other hand, for a lead reseller, Adsense may cost over $10/click, and they might charge close or over $100 per lead. The profit to the lead buyers (bank) is even higher.

so if mortgagerates.com is taken, and ratesmortgage.com comes avail, it would be worth this kind of money?

I wouldn't say that. There are differences and it all depends on the words. Like I said it depends on what you can get out of it not what you think it's worth.

Say I own "bridesmailorder.com" Which I do. It has decent rankings in various search engines and makes a decent amount of money.

People of course don't type in bridesmailorder.com. I get my results from the keywords in the search engines. And has turned out to be profitable.

They of course are searching for "mail order brides" "order brides" "russian brides" "latvian brides" and so on.

Smash,

The number of monthly searches for "financing home" is just under the searches for the term "home financing" (see Google Trends).
I am agree with you that HomeFinancing.com is nicer than FinancingHome.com but his pricing is also probably +4 times more expensive.

...

Yes home loans is one of the hotest niche of the net with very high ppc bids.

...

Stop to see search type-in everywhere and to base the value of domains on this.
I already told you that search type-in rarely exceed 1.5% for generic dot com based in short and very popular terms.
In otherwords peanuts compared with the traffic you may get thanks to SEO.
If Franck Schilling and company make a lot of money with direct navigation is because they own hundred thousands domains!
Like Ricks written, 1 cent * 100 million ==> 1 million dollars

any seller can ASK any price they want for their domains.
this is the greatness and sadness of the industry!

they don't HAVE to justify the price, when the value is obvious.

and sometimes when it's not, you may see a trail of "supporting" data from either an online news source, major SE or some type of appraisal service to add to the hype.

sometimes it's not what you're selling, but how you sell it!

Well said Biggie,

One think is what a domain "may/may not" worth.

Another is how you sell it, how you present the domain, are you good for negotiate, do you need money fast or can you wait, did you find the best client, is there a pool of buyers interested to compete for the name, is it the best time to sell....

...
