Elsewhere, a new member wonders if there are end-user buyers and if many sales take place here?

My 2 cents is if it's a good keyword domain and priced real low at wholesale level it could sell here. However, if looking for end-users at price levels above say 5k or more it will be virtually impossible at forums. Higher priced names may sell elsewhere but even then based heavily on luck as far as an end-user deciding they want a domain which matches their business in some way, having purchase authority and budget, and then managing to find it for sale, or send an email to the admin email address from Whois and buying the 5k name (assuming seller does not quote say 50k which will almost always make the deal fail).

I would estimate 95% or more of all the names listed for sale on ebay and the domain forums will never sell (at least for more than low prices like xx) but will instead drop one day when the owner grows weary of paying the renewal fees year after year, or else runs out of finding new domainer flippers. For example, I just looked at the most recent 800 listings on ebay and did not see even one offering that would interest me for any price.

The opposite is true if you go to Michael Mann's (broker: Pink Misfit who I know from Facebook) site http://domainmarket.com but the problem there is the names are great but prices are way out of most everyone's league. You have to wonder how he accumulated such good names, especailly in view of the bulk sale of his portfolio a few years ago to I think BuyDomains.com if I remember correctly.

I thought they come to you instead of you looking for them.

Of course, that is usually what happens. Was mostly referring to those not wanting to wait for buyers to arrive one day (if they ever do) but instead trying to market them.

In that case its called google and a phone.

I think Elliot elliotsblog.com, wrote up a piece a while back on how he finds and approaches end users, certainly worth a read.

The only difference between you approaching them vs them approaching you is demand, when someone knocks on my door the price tends to be higher ;) If its a quicker flip with smaller profit that is desired than by all means pick up a phone because after all no one has any gaur. anyone will ever knock on your door.

that's for sure and a big time difference in the price too is good. Odd thing is 1 of the 3 old Admins at the DS forum once said in a post that is not right and you should not raise your price based on someone knocking based on who they are or their deep pockets

I enjoyed this quote for many years but with the upcoming increase of dot com, I need to change the way I do business. It is hard to maintain 1000+ domain portfolio only depending PPC dropping revenue.
