I was interested to know what the average portfolio sell-through-rate is?

I've read people can expect to sell 1% up to 5% if you are really good.

What are your thoughts, experiences, and expectations about STR for domain portfolios?

Hi

it's a question that has been put forth before, but i'll give my opinion here as well.

first,
what is an average portfolio?
what type of domain names are in it?
who owns majority of "top tier" domains and...
are such portfolios considered to be "average"?

so, if we exclude those portfolios, then what is left?

to me, str is irrelevant, especially when you try to compare it to an average portfolio, because you don't know what the size is, the quality, who owns them, their experience, and how much they sell each domain for "on average"?

str also doesn't define profitability or margin of return for each sale or whether it's enough to sustain that portfolio.
the more names you have, the more you may have to sell, to sustain the rest and or have funds to reinvest.

but to the question

currently i have around 200 domains and last year, prolly sold 3 or 4 of them,
so str would be what, 2%.?

however, all of my sales were passive, in that they buyer contacted me or name was sold @BIN price.
whereas someone else, with different model, may sell more names, but their roi for each sale, may be lower.

it all depends on many variables, that can effect it and each are as unique, as is every portfolio owner.

but, you still won't know how much each domains' sale price was, unless i tell you,
which makes my str meaningless.

imo...
