If you're able to registered a premium name, well congrats. But for everyone here investing .asia what's your thought?

Are you going to register .asia names, why?
- for investment purpose?
- for deep branding of your existing .com .net .org name?
- to capture asia market space?
- to create new market in asia?
- for domain speculation
- post your other reason

Cheers,
em

asia is like mobi, **** all waste of time. 25% more letters in the extension and 100% equal geographical counterparts such as .kr, cn, sg, my, etc. ABSOLUTE WASTE

No there's no point to it, but if you're maintaining a portfolio for a single brand that operates in Asia, there is a justification for it. Yes it 'sux', but that's life. I just renewed a HK reg for $250 today. I will probably never use it, but I have a brand to defend.

what for 6 dollars a generic domain? and it sux, good grief!! I picked up about 20 .asia's all good generics for $120 ( good business )

Fact: atleast 1 country in asia will be a bigger economy than the U.S.in less than 10 years
Fact: atleast 3 asian economies have 4 times the growth rate than the us.
Fact: as Azooza was saying - its a good defensive idea the reg one or two.

I have issues with members of that region finding it to be stereotyping and to the point of almost being racist. And I have to agree.

It is a good idea but too late. Just like .eu. Had these been first before all the ccTLD's of individual countries then there would perhaps be some justification. But taking all cultures and nations of a continent and grouping them together is not going to fly.

Very few will actually profit from this. We all know what the keywords are that have a chance.

Again, HO HUM... just nothing there for me. At least with an .it or other ccTLD if I'm in that country there is some benefit, but asia isn't a country, it's a continent and it's jus a way for "them" to make money. Useless as the pope's peter.

Pretty much what I just said. doc.. KUDOS

Run that by me again - the part about "I will not accept logic people..."

Thanks. You may save me a lot of bread if you can convince me of your 'argument'.

well now im confused... i thought for sure that .asia bashing takes the place of .mobi bashing.

i was just trying to fit in..... anyone got any pointers on how to do this correctly? should i put more emphasis on the words "sucks" or what.... what im saying is i would like to learn how to properly bash an extention if someone is willing to teach me.

Step 1: Ensure you have no interest at all in the extension other then brand protection.

Step 2: If you haven't, then bash away because it's a total waste of space.

On the basis that you don't fall into the 'Step 1' category, then I'm all for fun and games. No pointers needed :D
