So what happnes after the domain has been registered for 10 years? The owner can continue to extend it or is there a special procedure?

you can keep extending it as long as you want, it just cant be extended for more than 10 years without it needing a renewal.

Ok, thats what i am asking. You just stated you can extend it as long as you want but when its 10 years you need a renewal. What is the diference. By extending i mean renewing (or extending the registration for n number of years). So why is there the 10 year figure constantly being brought up. Is this just the maximum number of years you can renew for at a time or what?

READ MY LIPS: We'll no longer need any dot-com in 10 years' time.

My guarantee is as good as that of George Bush (Senior) when he said "no new tax". LOL! :D
