The main internic whois database is not real time, and updates twice a day. You may check the whois at the registrar where you register your domain.

Be patient, it'll be there finally :D.

It depends on the registrar you registered the name with. Some don't show up immediately because they don't have a direct real-time configuration to the registry. There have been cases where people were beaten to the draw because of this unbelievable silliness. When you are trying to grab a name, always use a registrar with real-time connections to the registry. Enom is a good registrar to grab first-come-first-serve names.

ar, actually .. it is so strange that i tried serveral registrar's whois; some said "unavailabile to register" whilst the others allow me to do so. Finally i go with godaddy.com.

That's because of periodic real-time connectivity to registry outages, coke.

For the best check on name availability.

http://www.netsol.com

I've always found them 100% reliable, at least on that one score.

Even eNOM screws up sometimes.

The worst I've experienced is http://www.register.com They always fool you into thinking things are available when they are not.

Hi mole,

netsol.com is not quite user-friendly. I check whois direct on http://www.internic.net/whois.html , accurate indeed.

BTW, my experience told me that registerfly is the worst. it sucks.

Yeah, registerfly screwed a lot of people up in the landgrab too. They hold onto the names in their database for a while when others zoom them home to the registry. Many lost out because of this.

You can read a little about what is going on right this minute. Not sure if affects all registrars, but according to 000domains, it does.

http://www.000domains.com

Incase you miss it, all it says is:

"Root registry will be taken offline for a scheduled maintenance beginning at 20:00 hrs (8:00 PM) ET on November 16, 2002 for 4 hours. We expect to restore service at 24:00 hrs (12:00 AM) ET November 16, 2002. During this time our services will not be available for com/net/org domain names. This maintenance window is at the gTLD registry level, and will affect all registrars equally. "
