Here are two names that were scheduled to delete on 7-29-02. They both are "stuck in the delete cycle", i.e., Whois shows "Domain not found locally".

Kazakhstan.com has an active site: Kazakhstan News
Punjab.com has an active site: Punjab Globe

These are 2 very valuable Asian .com names. Who out there owns a Country.com? Especially one with a lot of oil reserves!

Anyone have an explanation how these NSI names could be stuck in the delete cycle but now resolve to a web site? One explanation is that the Whois was never properly updated. However, as far as I can tell, neither of these actually dropped.

They could be transfers away from verisign that are taking longer than they should - this would explain the ns's still being in the root server despite Verisign not holding data local.

Safesys,

Hmm. Can a name be transferred once it gets into the delete cycle?

kazakhstan was a site at least 3 weeks ago. Sometimes the name looks like a deleted name but is in transfer.
