I've been bombarded by SPAM in the last couple weeks, Most are emails for Viagra, where they use images to pass through filters.

Changing my email address or using a Free Email service is not an option, I want a program that works inside Outlook or Outlook Express..... I tried a few and their not as effective as they should be, even when set to the highest level, SPAM still gets through.

So what is everyone using? What is the best?

Thanks!

If you run your own server I can recommend some blocklists, spamdyke or spamassasin, but for a good (free) filter to use with an email client, try spampal.

I do run on my server but spamassasin is not good enough, It blocks legit email and I have to login into my spam box to check it, and still some will pass through.... Adding to the blacklist is time consuming ineffective as well, as no SPAM is alike, They change up everything in the header and body.

I'm looking for something that's works in the email client.

No, not blacklisting individual IP/domains. I mean have your server run the rbl checks for you (Spamhaus/ NJABL / uceprotect, etc) Most mta's have a simple mechanism to use public blocklists. Also have it do reverse dns tests. Spamassasin is a bit of a hog, I have to admit, but if you set the required hits to 8-10, most legit mail will get through, as least in my experience.

Try spampal, it works pretty well!

Oh, I think Fab meant "Slick Willy" :)

I know this suggestion isnt a client solution but if your server is at your location. I recommend a Barracuda Spam Firewall. They are pretty rock solid. if not maybe your server provider offers some hardware solutions for spam?

I've never used a barracuda device, but I believe they just have their own dnsbl, and it's available to the public: http://www.linux.com/feature/155880
