Hello,

With the currencies going up and down dramatically at the moment, I was wondering what would be the best currency to list your domain for sale in ?

Fees are: £35 GBP - 50 euros - 50 USD

My question is not only in terms of (1) value...especially if you transfer from USD to GBP for example, but also in terms of (2) perception to the buyer.

All your comments much appreciated :)

Definitely not euros.

Sedo does not provide a euro conversion.

Their structure should be:

35GBP
40Euro
50USD

This all came into effect when they changed their site format.

They forgot to add a euro conversion.

On one occasion I sold a domain and because the offer was made in Euro, I was charged 50euros which, at the time of the sale, was equal to $76usd.

Because of this, I would recommend to everyone USD.

Not the currency, start your auction at low price.

It is also worth noting that Sedo only allows listings up to $10,000 unless you buy a sedo appraisal.

Um, yeah...okay.

If you have a high value domain and do not want to be bothered with lowballers, list your minimum offer as £9999.

Many still do not realize that sedo has a minimum of $50usd.

Starting out at $60 is risky now.

Not only might you make a grand sum of $10 on the sale, the fact that Sedo changed their landing page and no longer are running or closing sales put in front of the eyes of a potential buyer.

Their redesign is a huge failure for many reasons but mostly because of those changes.

I see what you are saying with the Euro: currently their 50 euros = 60 usd or £42 GBP

Any views on perception ? I would have guess that it is better to list domain.us in USD and domain.eu in Euro

Perception?

Be happy that names get offers. That is the best gauge of a perspective buyer's perception.

If the name is strong enough, the offers will come in.

I have had offers in every currency irregardless of what base currency I listed in.

You might want to set prices in different currencies depending on the extension.
I would use £ for .co.uk domains for example because they are more likely to be bought by British end users.
