So much new rules being created, for what reason?

You can only create one sales thread a day? Is that going to benefit anyone in any way?

Only three posts or replies in sales threads? Not sure if that is even practical.

etc...

hmm, i just saw that in Platinum Forum , it's no longer possible to have more than 1 thread every 24 hours even in subsection.
eg:if i create a thread for offers wanted , and want to create another in fixed price section --- it gives error

Message
Sorry, you are not allowed to create more than one thread every 24 hours in this section.

Am i only getting this error or is it generalized cos earlier i think it was possible to have 1 thread each in all the subsections of platinum forum .
f=283 , f=556 , f=5 , f=496 , f=539 , f=529 , f=116 , f=550 , f=109 , f=324 , f=555 , f=48 , f=150
It seems to be limited to only the sales subsectins as above.

This has been a rule for as long as I"ve been here.

It stops people from spamming the forums. You should be able to post one sales thread in each subforum a day (as long as they fit the category and are not posted in multiple sections - unless something has changed recently).

The last thing we need is someone posting 20-30 threads in the same subforum with one domain each - which does happen.

As for the "replies" - we've had people start off their thread with a ridiculously high price then do 20-30 reductions of 10% each with no other posts. Many people do this just to take advantage of the backlink of this site.

Ed,
I think what anshu means is that
He is not able to create threads in different subsections of the main section AND
Not creating different threads in the same sub section.

I think this will limit the people posting if this is correct ..

hi,

that's what i am saying, i just tried to create thread in offers wanted section. and another one in $100 and above section ,and i am getting the error.

Attaching ss.

As can be seen in the url, both are 2 different subsections(within the Platinum section).

Thanks

The "hack" to prevent Platinum members from creating more than "1 thread per 24 hrs" in each of the sales sections is being checked.

There were some issues where a few Platinum members had created several threads within a few minutes in "Domains For Sale/Fixed Price Over $100" section.

So in the meantime, there may be some inconviences until the problem is resolved.

Thanks

You should now no longer see that issue, it's been disabled while we work this out. The problem lies in the fact that the hack is looking at each individual section as one group together.

Thanks,

Chuck

As I mentioned in the original post, it seems there is a new rule that you can only create 1 single thread in the for sale section. Apparantly this is just some sort of error.

Regarding the rule of only 3 posts or replies in sales threads, what if 3 members ask questions? what if it is necessary to post 3 times. I always wonder why these type of "new rules" are constantly added and what is the point and why now?

The "3 posts/replies" refers to if you, the OP are the only one posting in your thread.

Of course if other members are showing interest in your sales and are making/posting offers, you certainly have the right/option to respond.

Seems like a silly rule for to implement during a recession. Names take longer to sell these days, more updates/price reductions often required in order to sell them.

I see the sense in saying no blatant bumps but stopping legitimate updates/price reductions in excess of the three, that's just daft , imo.

The last thing this forum needs is more rules.

threads where there are legitimate updates and price reductions are left open.

but there has to be a line drawn to prevent abuse.
