Can anybody decode Yahoo's message with the latest development?

Domain reg has been increased from $9 to $34

Obviously Yahoo is not for domainers or webmasters, what do you think?

Translation imo:

"We are desperate to reverse the current trend in company profitability (or lack thereof) in order to justify our mishandling of the MS proposal hoping we can turn this dying enterprise around, and will make money off the backs of domain registrants whom we calculate enough will stay with us (because of their lack of time, knowledge or desire to want to go through the process of changing registrars) to make this decision more profitable than not, in accounting for the number of people whom will surely leave us after making this capitalistic decision to gouge our sheeple, err, I mean customers."

...but hey, I may have missed something in translation. ;-)

They said its because of the cost of doing business. What a crock of shit. You would think that as big as they are they would be able to spread the costs around and keep prices lower than most of their competitors.

IMO its all about greed

Who uses Yahoo anyway?

Isn't yhoo geared more towards the new developer entering the industry anyways...the person that doesn't know any better.

Didn't they use to give the domain for free with purchase of hosting?? They were probably planning this price increase for a while now.

Why would people pay 34.95 per Year when they can easily get an domain for $7 @ ResellerClub.com ?

Both are ICANN Accredit Registrar.
