Hey, I was wondering why there are so many "good" .COM.CN names available. Is it a bad extension because it has .com and .cn in it ?
From the west, most of us see China as a land of business opportunity (cheap labour mostly). Would a name concerning business be worth more ?

I found names like cheaplabour.com.cn , reptiles.com.cn weren't registered (and a couple more that I like, but I wont say). Wouldn't names like these be worthing anything?

Explain!

Hello,
I seemingly got burned too. Registered quite a few of them (see the list below) and it seems nobody around here thinks they are worth anything.

.com.cn can be too easily confused with .com and you lost the visitor

In March they open the pure .cn domains which will make the .com.cn more or less worthless. And even .cn seems to be something for the really long haul (5-10 years). Do not invest if you want to see immediate money.

But my comment is to be taken with a grain of salt as I too am a newbie in the game and am still learning the rules.

See my thread on "compare basic value of TLD's" for more on the matter...

Greetings
Reinhard

They're NOT!

Source: eNom;
What is a third level domain name? Third level domain names consist of three parts (like in .co.uk names). For example, in the third level domain name example.com.cn, "CN" would be the top level part, "COM" would be the second level part, "EXAMPLE" would be the third level part which is the part you register.
We will offer names in .com.cn, .net.cn, .org.cn.

Rienhard, you may be a newbie but you're listening and picking up the right lessons..

You're understanding correctly, you'll do just fine..

Concentrate on a strategy for march so you pick up some nice names...

Why go for .COM.CN when you can go for .CN? Why buy a third level domain when you can buy a second level domain?

The trend seems to be towards second level entry ccTLDs. .US was a third level entry domain until recently. .EU is expected to be a second level entry domain. .CN will be one come 17 March.

The colonialistic days of .COM everything are fast coming to an end. Think 2 years ahead, and you start to appreciate these simple observations.
