Perhaps this should be in the newbies' section with all my other questions, but it's only since I came across this section a few minutes ago that I've realised a reseller may be more than what I thought it was, that is, someone who buys domain names and sells them for a profit.

Why does require having a special club or account?

It requires a membership (like with Godaddy) so the company "sponsoring" the reseller (GoDaddy) can also make money. It will also attract more seirous people for it (if it was free everyone and their brother would be a reseller).

basically it's a middleman between a registrar/host and an enduser.
let's take enom: if you want to buy directly from them (enomcentral.com), you'll see some outrageous prices....but you can become a reseller, with a better pricing tier

Hmmm, I can understand what Bender says about enom, but I don't really understand you about GoDaddy, draggar. Are you saying that resellers can get a cheaper price than ordinary people like me?

Well, they can but normally discount codes (look on this forum in the registrar section) can get you pretty close to that. I think Godaddy has OYH3 which gives you .coms for $6.95 (+ "ICANN fee").

Well, I've been using a code for a good while now, and it's a reasonable discount. I'm not in line for joining a reseller club yet, as I have only managed to sell one domain (on Sedo). But then I haven't tried very hard, either - till now.

I was just a bit confused as to what exactly a reseller was that was different or more than what people normally do (or try to do). Thanks again for straightening that out. :)

A reseller primarily allows you to have, on your own site, the ability yo have people register domains and you get a comission off of each one. It doesn't involve you trying to sell your own domains (I'm not sure how TDNAM works in regards to this & resellers, though).

let me tell you guys a reseller is not just a middle man it is whole new business,if you work hard.

a reseller can get all services for cheap price and sell to new customers for little high price, plus as a reseller you can buy names or any service for you too as you control everything.

ya you have to compete with main company too, from whom you buying this.

I think godaddy reseller is best as you just invest a little and get everything ready to use including support too.
