What software I need?

Hi

I am thinking to buy me an server and but up a web server.
I have many sites running in estonian hosting companys and I think It would be cheaper for me to buy my own server and set it up.
I think I will install Linux - it`s free?
But what software do I need more? I mean so I could create reseller account`s and then they can create theyre customer account`s? Where can I find that kind software? and what does it cost?

But if you want software then go for :

It means the software will cost more then the server!

Depending on the volume of your traffic and your customers, it could be cheaper to rent a server and have the price of either control panel included.
You can easily get them for as little as $100-150 a month.

Now, If you want to run it directly, and I would only advise that If you have a Linux admin, or you know your stuff, cause I didnt and I got lost big time, you can get Red Hat Linux 9 pro or server edition and actually have it running from your location from the command menu.
a Linux admin can actually do this with relative ease.

256MB DDR 266 MHz
40 GB IDE 7200rpm ATA100 )

Fee for internet access for this server will be $100 - $150 in month. I have already server cost in estonia something like $100 in month + some sites in next months.

So soft will be something like $700 - $1500

So server cost min $1800 USD
I think not so much, I can offer then reseller hosting for customers.

Plesk is another type of control panel.
I have used Ensim in the past, and still use it, it is very easy.

After a tough call between plesk and cpanel, I finally went for cpanel.
It's harder that ensim IMO. and it's suposed to be easier than Plesk.
If that is anything to go by, go for either ensim or cpanel, cpanel is already complicated enough...

Servers are complex (I dont know how to use one), and you can rent a server @ RackShack or somewhere else and offer accounts (if thats what you wanna do.

I dont know if its such a(nother) great idea to become a webhost anymore.

Setup a server at home first. It is not easy to run and manage a linux server.
