What steps do you take after you purchase a domain to start prepare it? I thought this would be a helpful thread to new domainers. I will keep it updated with others replies

List of things to do after every domain purchase.

1. Forward Domain to parking company (Sedoparking.com , Parked.com, etc)

2. Add Domain to parked company list.

3. List Domain on Sedo.

4. Make a list of website ideas for the domain.

5. Make reference to the number of times the domain name is searched per month on Google.

6. Make a list of potential businesses that might be interested in the domain by searching Google the exact term of the domain.

7. Post on DNForum appraisal section to see what others think your domain appraises at.

8. Make a link to the domain on one of your more popular websites so search bots can find it.

9. Check Contact Info.

Thats all I can think of right now. If you have any to add, please do so.

1) Point the DNS to Parked.com

2) Add it to my Parked account and get the keywords right

3) Set up a transfer to Moniker or GoDaddy (if it isn't already there)

4) Let it sit there for at least two weeks as I debate how high on the priority list it should go. :)

Make sure I have the correct whois information entered.

Set up an account on my server.

Create a holding page.

Add analytics.

Let the domain ageing process begin.

---- wrong end of stick ---

by that, maybe you mean they should be thinking about ...

"Steps to take BEFORE every domain purchase"

at least these should be done prior to making a domain purchase...

4. Have a list of website ideas for the domain.

5. Know the number of times the domain name is searched per month on Google.

6. Have a list of potential businesses that might be interested in the domain by searching Google the exact term of the domain.

imo...
