What TV commercials do you hate the most?

Working from home many of you probably have the TV on like I do most of the time and have to live thru so many stupid commercials...TIVO has saved my sanity. Still it takes a few seconds to hit the mute or pause button

What commercials do you hate the most?

Top of my list right now are those asinine Nutrisystem commercials. Which one? Pick one!....argghhhh...or maybe it's a tie between those and those brain dead HeadOn commercials...they beat you over the head with it!

LOL...well said aces...and it's freakin incredible how especially these three are just played over and over as if the TV execs don't think you even notice that your being beaten over the head with their brainwashing crap....if this kind of advertising works and brings in big $ then I'm not sure where we are headed...

Although here in the UK we don't generally have the same commercials as in the States we are getting that way. It used to be 6 minutes of commercials per hour were allowed, now with satellite TV we get up to 15 minutes of commercials an hour, and what do they mainly consist of:

Loan commercials
Accident claim commercials

About 4 months ago my daughter actually did a coursework paper on commercials for her business studies course. In one evening watching our normal programs for 3 hours there was a total 18 minutes of loan commercials and 17 minutes of accident claim commercials! They add up to longer than some of the programs we watched!

Ah, to go back to the good old days when the BBC (public funded and without adverts - except for their own products that is) when they actually made programs you could watch and enjoy. But I guess that is what I am watching on satellite TV now, re-runs of old BBC programs, but now I have the adverts as well! :upset:

Yeah, I really do. Often, I've just got to turn the TV off and play some lite rock to get in a better frame of mind. Dan Marino and Don Shuler, and their cast of goons, have turned themselves into nothing much more than cheap carnival barkers.... Or should I say commercial Hoes!

In this order:

1 - Nutrisystem. "Like, oh my god, like, I'm a grandmother, and, like, you know, I haven't like, looked this hot, like, since high school, like! Plus you know like, my 'husbund' says I look h a w t..!

Yeah, I've been noticing the government's been after them for quite awhile for supposedly using underage models, but damn if I don't see those commercials every 10 minutes when I'm watching, or should I say listening to Spike TV.

It's caused me to not even watch that channels anymore.

I've got to add three more of the worst offenders list...

I think it's the Courtyard commercials, with some heavy sappy voice, over an extremely annoying music bed... starts off - "we did it for the clutch players..." and ends with, either "go team," or "boom shacka lacka."

But (after the Nutrisystem and HeadOn commercials) come these two public annoyance beauties...

Principle Financial - The little cartoon commercials where the guy on a bike
uses the triangle-Principle logo, as a ramp, to jump over a gap in the ground to get over to the "retirement side." Also, when the little cartoon guy uses the logo as a ramp, behind a crowd - walking up to get a view over the crowd, and the other one using the logo as a parachute. All while they play some dippy-crap musical tune with some sterile-lab raised announcer voice talking down to you about getting to retirement.

AND - 10 times worse than Principle's commercials ... AG Edwards with the "Nest Egg," where, in one situation the guy "care bear," who is leaving his job for retirement comes back for his nest egg, while his co-workers have descended upon his office like vultures to pick off what was left behind. Worse - the one where the egg is wired up in the hospital, getting a physical checkup, and spinning around on the treadmill and being x-rayed, etc. The worst part of it all is the sick little cutsie piano music tune they've conjured up. That commercial is so cutsie, it literally makes me sick. And like the principle commercial, very condescending. They talk to you like you're an ittle-bitty baby with an ittle-bitty rattle and an ittle-bitty pacifier.

Absolutely correct - Nutrisystem is the NUMBER 1 OFFENDER on TV today! Their target audience is the lowest denominator of society. I guess they figure the most repulsive, tasteless, annoying commercials work. At the same time, they turned sports has-beens Dan Marino and Don Shula into a couple of nutra-headed commercial hoes!

commercials? I hate them too but my DVR solves the problem. Don't like it?skip it. Plus I watch high definition channels only. The standard programming doesn't look good on my 40" LCD.
